St. Theresa Photo Directory

St. Theresa Parish is putting together a new family photo directory. Please consider bringing your families in for photos.

Sign-up sheets are in the Narthex for March 5th and 6th.

This is not a fund-raiser; this is simply an effort to strengthen our community.  Frequently we know parishioners by sight, but don't know their names or we see names in the bulletin and don't know who they are.  Many times people call the office wanting addresses to send sympathy cards, or personal notes to parishioners and because of privacy laws, we are unable to provide them.  This directory will make it possible for people to communicate as part of the larger community. This is our opportunity to put names to faces.  There will be many opportunities on weekends and evenings to have photos taken, so please schedule an appointment at the sign-in table in the Narthex.

Operation Rice Bowl

Lent begins this week with Ash Wednesday.  As part of our community's observance of Lent, we ask all families to participate in Catholic Relief Services' Operation Rice Bowl, a program of prayer, fasting, learning and giving.  Please be sure to take home a Rice Bowl packet and follow the simple, yet powerful, Lenten practice.  Visit orb.crs.org for more information.

Girl Scout Cookies For Sale

On Sunday, February 14th, local Girl Scouts will be selling their cookies in the Narthex after the 7:30 a.m. Mass.  Girl Scout cookies are a great way to sweeten your valentine and help our youth earn their way to camp.  Cookies are still $3.50 per box.  Thanks for your support.

Spiritual Adoptees

Once again it is time to spiritually adopt children conceived to be born in October.  Please fill out the form below and place the completed form in the collection basket.  These names will be placed at the feet of Mary during February.  Please fill out a form, and then pray this simple prayer daily.

“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much.  I beg you to save the life of the unborn baby that I have Spiritually Adopted who is in danger of abortion.”

SPIRITUAL ADOPTION

DATE __________________

I, __________________ pledge to spiritually adopt my unborn brother/sister in Christ today.  I pledge to intercede on his/her behalf to be spared from abortion by praying the ten-second prayer by Bishop Fulton Sheen; I spiritually name him/her

Homeless Shelter needs donations

During the winter months, there is a homeless shelter in Concord for people who need shelter.  They are asking for donations of sample-sized soaps, shampoo, disposable razors, warm socks, gloves, deodorant, toothpaste, tooth brushes. Liquid Laundry Detergent, coffee hot chocolate or creamers are also in great demand.  If you can make a donation, please leave items in the box located in the Narthex.  Thank you.

Catholic Relief Services Collection

to Benefit Haiti

For the next several weeks there will be collection baskets in the back of each parish for donations to Catholic Relief Services and the work they are doing in Haiti.  This money is sent directly to Catholic Relief Services.  All monies will be collected and deposited at  the end of the month. If you would like to make a donation with a check, please make the check payable to:  St. Theresa Parish, St. Mary Parish or Catholic Relief Services

Pastor's Notes

Our Bishop has asked that the flu restrictions be kept in place until flu season is over.  On Palm Sunday we will return to shaking hands, receiving the Precious Blood, and other normal practices.

While celebrating Mass at Bishop Brady High School for Catholic Schools week, one of the students, Brad Bittman, asked me to advertise "SoulFest".  Brad's band, "GlenRidge", will perform along with 'Mercy Me" and many others.  SoulFest is held at Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, NH from August 4 - 7.  A four-day ticket is $80.  If you're interested in attending, call Brad Bittman at 724-4663 or e-mail him at bradbittman@gmail.com. For more information visit www.thesoulfest.com

Mass Intentions

Many people have called to schedule Masses and are disappointed to learn that we are booking Masses into July and August.  Fr. Mark approached the Bishop and asked for permission to have two intentions per Mass, and because we are twinned parishes, with limited Masses at each location, the Bishop has given his permission.

If you have already booked a Mass for 2010 and would not mind having another intention for that Mass, please contact the parish office.  If you have booked a Mass for 2010 and would prefer that your's is the only intention on that Mass, that is fine.  We will not book two intentions without permission from both families.  This will help people get Masses sooner, as well as helping both parishes by keeping money flowing into the church.

Spring Confirmation Program

Begins March 14

If you are in 10th or 11th grade, would like to be Confirmed on May 4, 2010 and have not attended the six-week confirmation program, please contact the parish office to register for classes beginning March 14.

Pastor's Notes

Capital Campaign Update:  Darin LaBier grew up at St. Mary Parish and was an Altar Boy with Fr. Griffen and Fr. Wright.  He is the finish carpenter chosen to work on our pews.  Each one was fixed with great care, so that each detail was corrected.  I realize the new alignment might bother some, as well as the new kneelers being different, and most of the children will miss the hat clips, however, I encourage you to see the subtle changes as an improvement.

Lenten Soup and Bread Suppers

If you would like to help plan and prepare Soup and Bread suppers for Sunday evenings during Lent, please contact Celia Decowski at 290-0499.

Hillsboro Food Pantry

The items most needed at this time are: Canned fruits and vegetables.  This group includes canned soup, fruits, vegetables and other non-perishable foods.

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

Sunday, February 21 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.

There is a sign-up sheet in the entrance of the church for Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for the First Sunday of Lent from 10:00 - 3:45 p.m. with Benediction to follow.  Won't you please consider signing up to spend one hour with the Lord?
