Operation Rice Bowl

Jesus' transfiguration was a moment of hope for the disciples, giving them the strength to endure the future sacrifices they would make as they formed the early Church.  As we continue our journey with Catholic Relief Services' Operation Rice Bowl, let us be mindful that our Lenten sacrifices help to give hope to our brothers and sisters in need.

St. Theresa Photo Directory

St. Theresa Parish is putting together a new family photo directory. Please consider bringing your families in for photos.

Sign-up sheets are in the Narthex for March 4th, 5th and 6th.

This is not a fund-raiser; this is simply an effort to strengthen our community.  Frequently we know parishioners by sight, but don't know their names or we see names in the bulletin and don't know who they are.  Many times people call the office wanting addresses to send sympathy cards, or personal notes to parishioners and because of privacy laws, we are unable to provide them.  This directory will make it possible for people to communicate as part of the larger community. This is our opportunity to put names to faces.  There will be many opportunities on weekends and evenings to have photos taken, so please schedule an appointment at the sign-in table in the Narthex.

The Franciscan Players present

Sorrowful Mysteries

Friday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m.

St. Theresa Church

The Franciscan Players are going to be at St. Theresa Parish for a moving depiction of the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary.  Everyone is encouraged to attend this presentation in place of the Stations of the Cross for that Friday.

Women's Ministries Yard Sale

Saturday, May 15

Please start setting aside gently used items for the Women's Ministries Yard Sale.  The sale is Saturday, May 15 and donations will be accepted on Thursday and Friday before the sale.  We cannot accept large pieces of furniture or appliances.  Watch the bulletin for drop of dates and times.

Spiritual Adoptees

Approximately 3,700 babies are aborted every day in the Untied States.  Won't you please consider spiritual adoption if you haven't already?  Please fill out this form and return it in the collection basket.  Then pray this short prayer written by Bishop Sheen.

“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much.  I beg you to save the life of the unborn baby that I have Spiritually Adopted who is in danger of abortion.”

SPIRITUAL ADOPTION

DATE __________________

I, __________________ pledge to spiritually adopt my unborn brother/sister in Christ today.  I pledge to intercede on his/her behalf to be spared from abortion by praying the ten-second prayer by Bishop Fulton Sheen; I spiritually name him/her

Regulations for Fast and Abstinence

Good Friday, April 2nd is a day of fast and abstinence.  Fridays of Lent are also days of abstinence.

Fasting is to be observed by all 18 years of age and older, who have not yet celebrated their 59th birthday.  On a fast day, one full meal is allowed.  Two other meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal.  Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and juices, are allowed.

Abstinence is observed by all 14 years of age and older.  On days of abstinence, no meat is allowed.  Note that when health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige.  When in doubt concerning fast and abstinence, Fr. Mark should be consulted.

Spring Confirmation Program

begins March 14

If you're in 10th, 11th or 12th grade, would like to be Confirmed on May 4, 2010 and have not attended the six-week confirmation program, please contact the parish office to register for classes beginning March 14.

Mass Intentions

Fr. Mark approached the Bishop and asked for permission to have two intentions per Mass, and because we are twinned parishes, with limited Masses at each location, the Bishop has given his permission.

If you have already booked a Mass for 2010 and would not mind having another intention for that Mass, please contact the parish office.  If you have booked a Mass for 2010 its fine if you would prefer that yours is the only intention on that Mass.  We will not book two intentions without permission from both families.

NH Food Bank Drive for Lent 2010Beginning this weekend and continuing throughout Lent 2010, and in conjunction with Saint Vincent De Paul Society, all deacons of our Diocese will conduct a food drive for the Catholic Charities NH Food Bank. Deacon Winton requests parishioners consider giving one can or package of tuna along with a package of pasta EACH WEEKEND during Lent. Our goal is 1000 packages of tuna and 1000 packages of pasta. We will distribute the food to those in need through our own food pantry and the NH Food Bank. Please place the food in bags in front of the vocation table in the narthex. If all deacons in the Diocese reach our goal, we will have more than 40,000 items of food for those in need Statewide.
